A generous rich man has left a tip for Kølbert and is being thanked with some tunes from the treasury of Danish music.

The next day. Mr. Hamborg and Mr. Ebbesen congratulate each other on their well and truly over and done with search for Mr. Nitz. They have finally ascertained that it is impossible to find any trace of him, let alone the man himself.
